We once again had another superb day with our friends from
New Siblands Secondary School and the professionals from English Touring Opera. Tim Yealland, Education Director from English Touring
Opera said 'It's like coming home to Marlwood!’ He was joined by composer Russell Hepplewhite
and Cellist Rebecca Hepplewhite to create a beautiful story with music, dance
and song. Our Year 10 Drama and Music
students proved themselves to be both creative and kind in making students from
New Siblands feel very welcome. This
work follows our continued relationship with both New Siblands and English Touring
Opera. We have created many other mini
Operas and two large, week long Opera projects. We consider this to be a very special work for
Marlwood, with us all benefiting from a world class opera company in this way.
This time the theme was deeply thought provoking as we considered refugee
children and their plights to escape from war torn countries.
